Support for Science in Schools

We award Grants for School Science to primary and secondary schools to inspire and engage students through practical science. Grants can be used to purchase equipment, deliver science enrichment projects, and support participation in science events and competitions.

The grants are given in standard amounts of £600 for primary schools and £1,000 for secondary schools, and applications are generally open annually from 1st June to 31st July.  Please check back for updates.

In addition, we recently awarded a grant to fund the purchase of a scanning electron microscope, helping to expand a loan scheme run by The Institute for Research in Schools. The scheme enables schools to borrow a scanning electron microscope, giving students access to advanced scientific equipment and enriching their experience of practical science. If you are interested in our Grants for School Science programme, this loan scheme may also be of interest.

"I had an amazing three days on the course.  It was a unique experience and I got so much out of it. The talks were fascinating and the practicals meant I could apply my new knowledge ... I now really want to study Materials Science at university."
